Earlier this month our Chief Growth Officer, Maya Markovich, was named one of five Influential Women of Legal Tech by the International Legal Technology Association. As part of this honor, ILTA runs an interview series highlighting each of these top women driving innovation in legal, sharing their knowledge through mentorship and speaking engagements, and inspiring others to contribute to this growing industry. Maya’s well-deserved recognition is live on the ILTA website this week.
The interview spotlights some of Maya’s influences, advice for women considering careers in legal tech, and her views on the skills necessary for practicing law in the 21st century.
A few highlights from the interview:
The women who influence me are those who are thinking deeply beyond the present and immediate future – about the long term impact of actions, which trends will evolve to become opportunities, and how these might affect myriad stakeholders.
Lawyers excel at critical thinking, communication, problem solving, providing guidance, and persevering in the face of ambiguity or setback… Apply those well-honed skills differently.
I hope that we can help move the needle on the importance of taking a more active, innovative approach to legal education that prepares new lawyers for contemporary practice, including incorporation of technology into basic, daily work streams.
